Problem with W3C Validator?

There seems to be a problem with W3c Validator at the moment – When trying to check Shareworld I am getting the following error:

Line 1, Column 1: end of document in prolog
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.o…

This error may appear when the validator receives an empty document. Please make sure that the document you are uploading is not empty, and report any discrepancy.

I was pretty sure this was incorrect as Shareworld is nearly completely valid XHTML (baring in mind it comprises over 1100 pages). I tried checking the validity of a few other sites I run (including this one) and got the same error.

To make doubly sure this was in error, I downloaded a sample html page from the W3c website and tried to validate that; it also produced the same error.

I have since emailed W3C via their feedback section, but have not yet received a reply.

I will post an update when I get one.
