Petri IT Knowledge Base

Contains many useful tutorials and information on a vast range of IT topics – this is mostly advanced stuff dealing with Exchange, Active Directory issues etc – Highly recommended.

Experts Exchange

Also highly recommended for a source of IT information – it is the haunt of many IT professionals and the idea of the site is that you can ask any IT question and it will get answered by one of the experts that frequent the site – this is a piad for service but I think its around $79 per year which I think is very reasonable – or if you are knowledgable enough you can earn points by answering questions – these points then enable you to ask questions yourself.

MX Toolbox – Tools for checking MX records and for checking for blacklist inclusion.

Securing against relay – This is disabled by default, however, people who authenticate can still relay over the server by default – this needs to be blocked and further if pop is active valid users need to be able to relay.

AOL blacklist checks

Email using Telnet

Creating a Tarpit – This Needs to be setup if you enable recipient filtering, it slows down communictions slightly to prevent a user harvest attack

check multiple dns/mx records – good check for propergation.

Installing Exchange on a second server – Instructions to install exchange on a second server

IMF Known Bugs – known bugs in Exchange IMF

IMF Reader – This archive reader runs via iis, copy into wwwroot folder in spam (create this folder). goto iis, find spam folder in default web server and go properties then Create application and disable anonymous access. Then spam can be viewed, deleted and re-submited from local web on any computer.
Warning: If anonymous access isnt disabled delete feature does not work..
Also seems security on spam folder should be set to allow full control to all users. Also, the reg file needs to be ran in order for the scl rating to be displayed. And in exchange spam filter settings, filtered messages need to be set to archive and at least 1 spam email needs to have been received.

Websites and SEO

TwitterFeed

This is a great tool if you have a website, a feed and a Twitter account – it is a free service and once configured, it will automatically “Tweet” from your websites RSS Feed to your Twitter account – by default it checks for new feeds every hour, but this can be adjusted.
